About Diablo:

Diablo Cody was born Brook Busey on June 14, 1978, in Chicago, IL. She went to a Roman Catholic high school and graduated with a degree in Media Studies from the University of Iowa. After graduating, Diablo relocated to Minneapolis. She then started her first blog, “Red Secretary.” Diablo married a musician she met on the Internet and became Brook Busey-Hunt. (She is no longer married to him today.) She then started writing a new blog, “Darling Girl.” Not too long after that, she quit her day job and dedicated herself to stripping. Diablo stripped under the names “Bonbon,” “Roxanne” and “Cherish.” She then blogged about her life as a stripper with her blog, “The Pussy Ranch.” A literary manager, Mason Novick found this blog and then e-mailed Diablo to convince her to write a memoir. She then wrote and published, Candy Girl: A Year in the Life of an Unlikely Stripper (2005). Not too long after that, Diablo Cody’s  career took off with the success of  her debut film, “Juno” (2007). She received numerous accolades for her first screenplay. And even though Diablo had never written for television, Steven Spielberg hired her to write a pilot for Showtime before “Juno” was even released.  In addition, she landed a gig as a Backpage columnist for Entertainment Weekly magazine. But her biggest accomplishment to date came when she won an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay in 2008 for “Juno.” Today, Diablo lives in Los Angeles, CA, is working on multiple projects, and is raising her first child, Marcello Daniel Maurio with husband, Dan Maurio.
